I am a skilled Educator and Trainer, with 23 years of anti-oppression experience in front line counselling, group facilitation, program design and curriculum development serving marginalized communities in educational, community health and social service settings. My mindfulness work is compassion driven, trauma informed, and honours the lived realities of our intersecting social locations.
I design and deliver clinical mindfulness based trainings and workshops for mental and primary health, social service and educational institutions.

My Teaching Approach
I teach tools that can be directly applied to work contexts of learners through mindfulness based experiential learning. I have developed an embodied anti-oppression way of teaching that integrates current research, evidence based practices, lived experiences of community members and mindfulness. I model a warm and non-judgmental learning environment that draws from 23 years of anti-oppression practice and 13 years of daily mindfulness practice. I am dedicated to decolonizing mainstream mental health approaches in my work.
Mindfulness Works
Mindfulness is a state of awareness, a way of paying attention to our direct experience (physical sensations, feelings, thoughts) as it is happening with an attitude of kindness and curiosity. By changing the way we experience where and how we focus our attention, we change the way our mind works. This is very helpful when our mind works in ways that no longer serves us. I have chosen to centralize my facilitation work in the area of mindfulness because mindfulness works.
Research has identified that mindfulness is beneficial as it:
I take up the cultivation of mindfulness practices as a powerful tool anyone has capacity to access.
Through mindfulness practices, we realize there are choices in arenas we have been previously unaware of. This is why I find mindfulness approaches so empowering. I am happy to tailor mindfulness groups, trainings and workshop to your needs. Do not hesitate to contact me to find out what services and rates I can offer you.
